North
Country Transitional Living Services, Inc. (NCTLS) strives to address
the emotional, developmental and educational needs of the children
and families whom are served. Our Children's Programs
provide a therapeutic and supportive environment to enhance the
opportunities
for positive growth. Children and families are aided in developing
to their fullest potential. NCTLS strives to enable individuals
to build on their strengths in order to achieve a sense of mastery
and power over their lives by using constructive coping mechanisms
to respond to life’s challenges. Staff works with individuals
and their families to broaden their abilities to effectively communicate
their needs in a positive manner. Additionally, staff aid in providing
individuals a wider spectrum of choices and educate individuals
regarding how their choices will effect outcomes (or consequences
to behavior). NCTLS seeks to improve options which individuals
choose in order to effect positive results in their lives. By enhancing
an individual’s ability to positively effect change in life,
self-esteem and self-respect are strengthened. NCTLS strives
to foster a stable learning environment through goals designed
to develop healthy alternate coping skills. The various programs
available for children, youth and their families through NCTLS
are based on strengths the individuals have already in existence.
The agency’s goal is to provide support in order for individuals
to grow to their fullest potential and to enrich their lives so
that they may be empowered to move forward in a positive direction.
