• Mobile Crisis Services is a intervention program available to all residents of Jefferson County and Fort Drum
• The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays
• One of two trained counselors may be reached day or night by calling782-2327
• The service is free-of-charge, confidential and can be anonymous
• The MCS counselor’s primary objectives are to listen, assess the crisis, assist with problem solving, and if needed refer to short or long term care.
• Face to face interventions may be possible
• Crisis may include emotional or mental health difficulties, relationship problems, traumatic events, non-violent family conflicts, general insecurities, or suicidal ideation
• MCS can be accessed to assess or intervene for an individual by a family member or service provider given the individual is aware and agrees to the intervention
• The MCS counselor can access two respite programs: one for children, ages 10-17, at the Jefferson County Children’s Home and one for adults through the Mental Health Association
• Upon request MCS will provide presentations of its program, training, and education in the field of mental health and crisis intervention
• The counselors prioritize the calls according to need, and voice-mail backup is always available. If a counselor is already handling an urgent crisis, the person will be referred to Samaritan Medical Center or other applicable service for assistance
